How many employees before Virginia requires workers’ compensation coverage?
The Virginia Workers’ Compensation Commission states that an employer who regularly employs more than two part-time or full-time employees must carry Virginia workers’ compensation coverage. The Commission’s wording is MORE THAN two rather than two or more, and it publishes that subcontractors’ employees count toward the total.
“an employer who regularly employs more than two part-time or full-time employees carry Virginia workers’ compensation coverage”
What are the minimum auto liability limits in Virginia?
The Virginia DMV publishes a table of liability policy minimum limits by three columns — injury or death of one person, injury or death of two or more people, and property damage. For policies effective on or after Jan. 1, 2025 the row reads $50,000, $100,000 and $25,000. Virginia raised its floor that year, so guidance quoting $30,000, $60,000 and $20,000 describes policies effective through December 31, 2024.
“Policies effective Jan. 1, 2022 through December 31, 2024 $30,000 $60,000 $20,000 Policies effective on or after Jan. 1, 2025 $50,000 $100,000 $25,000”
