Which New Jersey employers must carry workers’ compensation coverage?
The New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development states that New Jersey law requires all New Jersey employers not covered by Federal programs to have Workers’ Compensation coverage or be approved for self-insurance. The Department notes the requirement can reach out-of-state employers too, depending on where the contract of hire was made or the work performed.
