The Maryland Workers’ Compensation Commission states that effective July 1, 2024, an employer that fails to secure compensation for all covered employees may be subject to a penalty not to exceed $25,000, citing Labor and Employment Article 9-407. The figure changed in 2024, so older guidance quoting a smaller fine is out of date.
