Does an Iowa employer need workers’ compensation insurance?
The Iowa Division of Workers’ Compensation states that Iowa workers’ compensation law covers employees in most employment relationships, and that this requires most employers to carry workers’ comp insurance. The Division publishes self-insurance, approved by the Iowa Insurance Commissioner, as the alternative to buying a policy.
“Iowa workers' compensation law covers employees in most employment relationships. This requires most employers to carry workers' comp insurance.”
What auto liability coverage does Iowa law require?
The Iowa Insurance Division publishes a floor of $20,000 for bodily injury to or death of one person in any one accident, $40,000 for bodily injury to or death of two or more persons in any one accident, and $15,000 for injury to or destruction of property of others in any one accident. Iowa's property damage figure is among the lowest published anywhere, and the Division itself notes many drivers find the right amount is above these.
